For this project, I wanted to tell the story of my trip to the pyramids in Egypt. The first one focuses more upon the emotional experience as I made my way into the heart of the structure, so I tried to make the words look as if they were part of the tunnel. With the second one, I decided to make it look like a postcard that one might see from the area, but with the physical and emotional experiences seperated between them. The font I selected was Bembo. I like the romantic look it has.

The first composition, the tunnel, has so much more interest than your second.
ReplyDeleteI do love the camel though. lol
I like the first one more than the second. Although I think the second project gives more of the emotional grind that went into climbing the pyramid. I think maybe if you could find a way to combine the 2, and add more of the emotional aspect of the second one to the first one would work really well for you. I think the darkness of the first project would work well with the words of the second project. The words you have chosen are a great description of what that visit was like. For a person who never been there, I had a great visual of what that must have been like. In the first project I see words like …fear and dark, but that kinda makes me not want to visit the pyramids. I think you can keep those words but use some of the words from the second project to help describe why you used those words.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are drawn to the top rough, basically, because of the amazing contrast between the letters and the background. Although, I don’t recognize that it’s a pyramid until I read your description. And I feel like there is really is no concept or feel to it. Once I knew what it was I noticed the amazing detail you put into the layering of the pyramid to make it look 3-D. Your two roughs are so different but really cool in some aspects. Now, for you second one I really get the feeling because of the sun, and the pyramids, which bring along the great experience. Instead of just having the word sand, I would substitute it with foot steps (like the jesus steps, lol) filled with type. In the footsteps I would put a feeling word, since it’s going to be a part of flow of an emotional state of your experience. Also, to draw more attention to your second one and give it more boldness, I would make the background black, and have everything else white. Remember the sun is still there, so in my opinion it doesn't affect the feeling to it.
