Davila_Rockwell
Hi I am Daniela and I'm originally from Odessa, TX but have lived in the Austin area for about 7 years. After I finished my basics at Austin Community College, I transferred to Texas State as a Nursing Major. After a semester's worth of chemistry I decided nursing was not what I wanted to do. I had always enjoyed art classes and art competitions in high school and realized that I wanted a more creative career. I made the switch to Communication Design and I love it. My favorite font would have to be Rockwell. I like the roundedness of the letters and the impact it has on a design. It instantly grabs my attention with its classic, sharp look that can be used in many situations.

Menefee-Times
I'm Michele! I'm from Arlington, Texas. I'm a ComDes major and I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate. I chose Times or Times New Roman because its simple and classic. You can't really go wrong with that.
Nabil_Memphis
Hey my name is Nabil and I'm from Sugar Land, Texas. I chose Memphis because I did a project with it recently and it worked well. I was in the communication design program at North Texas for a couple of years but I started attending Texas State last semester.
Armas-Bookman Old Style
I'm Azalia, pronounced like the flower Azalea, in case that helps anyone. I'm originally from Orange County, California, and have moved a few times and have now been in Texas for about eight years now. So far I'm liking this major but was also strongly considering changing my major to Architecture just because I loved the idea of creating or modifying a building that could be used and enjoyed by people. I, however, have decided to stick to Com Des because I have found that its also quite gratifying to finish a project and see people react to it, whether positive or negative...of course positive is always nicer.
For my favorite font, I chose Bookman Old Style because its simple but still has some character in it with its. I see almost as a modern version of a typewriter's font (eventhough the font title is has "Old Style" in it) . The letters all flow together nicely and is very legible and isn't distracting unlike some of the hard jagged edges that a regular typewriter would create.

Timmerman - Bauhous 93
Hello hello, my name is Eric, I am from Austin and this is my second semester living in San Marcos. I chose the Bauhaus typeface because it is brilliant and different from the traditional. I don't know much about typefaces but I was into graffiti for a while and I i like hand drawn fonts.
Shine. Prestige Elite.
Hi. My name is Laura Shine and I am 20 yrs old. I am a CommDes major and I am minoring in History and Music. I am in the band and drumline here and play the bassoon and cymbals. I love traveling, music, and photography.
My favorite font is Prestige Elite because it has an old, classic look. It reminds me of a typewriter's font.
Diersing-Comic Sans MS
My name is Emily Diersing and I'm from Corpus Christi. I'm a sophomore and studying Communication Design, obviously. I absolutely hate cold weather and my iPhone because I am technology challenged. But I love the band Paramore and the show Jersey Shore, even though practically everyone I have met at Texas State hates it. I chose Comic Sans as my favorite typeface because it's simple yet kind of quirky and it's pretty easy to read, in my opinion.
Bonner-Garamond
Howdy! My name is Alexha. I don't really have a favorite typeface yet but I've used Garamond a few times. Not entirely sure why I like it. Just looks nice to me.
About me... I'm from Georgetown, Texas where all the ducks and old people are. I went to ACC after I graduated from high school because I had no idea what I wanted to do and I didn't want to waste tons of money at a big university. I studied photography for a while then decided it was more of a hobby than a career. Finally decided that I wanted to transfer to Texas State and a few years later I'm still here! WOO!
So there ya go. Blog done.

Smith. Didot
My name is Bailey Smith and I'm from the small town of Cibolo. I work at a bakery there in the summer and I'm super in love with my job. I was really into music and art in high school, so I didn't have much of a life. I sort of decided to focus on art because I enjoyed trying to draw a ridiculous picture more than I did sitting in a room and trying to play some ridiculous piece of music. I love to travel. I like making awesome things and hanging out with awesome people. I'm hoping ComDes will help me find a job where I get paid to do both.
SIKES Georgia
My name is Kristin Sikes and I'm 21 years old. I'm a junior but everyone tells me I look like a junior in high school. I'm from Austin, Tx but I have an apartment in San Marcos and my roommate is one of my best friends. Many people are surprised when I tell them I have a black-belt in tae kwon do. I go home as often as I can and I'm a huge family person. I work at Vera Bradley in the outlets and I've been obsessed with their products for years. I just like to hang out with my best friends, watch scary movies, watch all NBA basketball especially the Lakers, cook, play games, walk my dog, go to museums, and do anything related to art or the outdoors. I am so excited to go sphere riding sometime soon! I love hanging out with my 3 year old nephew because he always crack me up and I love teaching him new things. My favorite typeface is Georgia because I think it looks crisp, clean and even a bit girly.
Gunter, Futura
My name is Elizabeth Gunter but I go by my middle name, Lauren. I love social media, drinking coffee and reading. I love the outdoors, particularly going to the river. I love the San Marcos River so much that I'll go swimming in December. I also like going camping and hiking, when I can find the time. I was born in Nevada, and I lived in New Mexico after that until I was six years old when we moved to Round Rock, Texas. Even though I wasn't born in Texas, I was mostly raised here and I consider myself a Texan. Over the summer I went to Italy with the Texas State Art Department and had the time of my life. I love traveling and I definitely want to go back to Europe but I also love going on roadtrips in Texas on the weekends.
I chose Futura because it's been my go-to font recently. It's simple and modern and beautiful and I love using it for different projects and experimenting with its versatility.
Piper . Gill Sans
Hi! My name is Amy Piper and I'm from Coppell, TX. I am a sophomore here at Texas State and have enjoyed my time here so far. I hope to learn enough techniques and skills in Communication Design to hopefully get a good job after college. I love making art either with my hands or on the computer. I am so excited for this summer because I will be studying abroad with the art department in Italy!
I chose Gill Sans as the font I like because it is a sans serif font and each character has smooth lines. I also like that the bold typeface of the font enhances the look of the type.
Couvillion: ITC Blair Medium
ITC Blair Medium is my favorite typeface because it is unique and simple. Using Blair I noticed that the only character that has a descender height beyond the baseline is Q. One of the reasons I feel that it is a simple typeface is because it uses small caps instead of lowercase letters which adds a nice effect. The characters are very clean and crisp and are not overloaded with brackets or serifs.
Now that the technical stuff is out of the way...
Hi my name is Henri Couvillion. I'm from Houston, Texas but currently live in San Marcos. I have an associates degree in Computer Science from Lonestar Community College and hope to one day finish with an undergrad in Com Des at Texas State.
I've been playing pool for about 12 years now so I'm always looking for a challenge. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. I try to cook a Thai meal at least once a week.
I love Photoshop and Illustrator and want to learn as much as I can about them. Indesign isn't
my favorite but Im willing to learn more about it too.
Im really looking forward to learning more about type this semester.
Koski_Helvetica
I really don't have a favorite Type but I suppose Helvetica is an easy simple one that is used often by many people. There are many different versions of it that can be used such as ones with different boldness, size etc... I'm very new to all this so I don't have much to say about any of this.
A little bit about myself--- My main focus in school is AFROTC. I plan on joining the Air Force once I am done with college. I have always loved art but I have come to terms that I don't enjoy graphic arts like I did in highschool and in a way, I wish I didn't pick graphic design as my major. I would like to switch my major into something that involves a lot of painting but I can't switch because of my contract with the Air Force. I hope I can do well with this class even though it is difficult for me to understand. I don't want to make this very long, I have never blogged before either ha ha. Looking at the rest of the class, they seem to know what they are doing and have a lot of information to give. Anyway, not much to know about my self and I don't want to make you read my life story. So everything in a nutshell: Love painting, joining the Air Force as an Officer, music is my inspiration to keep going(just wanted to throw that in there), and Helvetica is a fun easy font that everyone uses all the time. :)

Robinowich- Modern No.20
Hi! I'm Harris Robinowich from Victoria, TX. I am a reality T.V. junkie and always know what is going on in Hollywood. I don't know why I'm so interested in brain melting material... I just am. The only thing I enjoy more than being a television junkie is being a design major. It is my life and I love it. My favorite font (right now) is Modern No. 20. It is sleek, yet old, and classic.

Filippov - Optima
My name is Pavel, I am 24 years old, and I live in Austin. Originally I hail from the frigid climates of Siberia, in Russia, but am now an acclimated Texan resident, impassioned about art and design aesthetics. I am a transfer from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and currently working on my bachelor's degree in Comm Des.
Optima caught my eye right away from the images. Sensual and direct, I liked this font immediately because of its clean space and subtle contours. Its delivery is so easy on the eyes that reading every stroke and counter is a pleasure, fluidly moving through the letters effortlessly and playfully. Yet it still retains a dapper sense of class, with refined lines of prominent posture and beautifully calculated reclining curves. Reminiscent perhaps of a night with martinis under a blue moon, or the fine aroma of a brand new luxury automobile. A game of poker, anyone?

Leal. Helvetica Neue
Hi guys,
My name is Erin, and I'm from Pearland, Tx. People from the Houston area might be familiar with it; but if you're not it's a growing town between Galveston and Houston. I have always loved being out here in the Austin/New Braunfels/ San Antonio area of Texas because its beautiful out here and the endless opportunities; so Texas State is where I have always wanted to be.
As far as my pick for my favorite typeface, I picked Helvetica Neue. I like clean and simple design and this typeface is exactly that. With a light weight to thick weight, condensed or regular, it is relatively versatile and used universally for a variety of design projects both big and small.

Frey. Marcelle Script.
My name is Tiffany Frey, I'm currently a junior and am 20 years old. I was born in California but love living in Texas (except for the crazy weather) and am from Keller, Texas. I'm very sociable and bubbly. I chose Marcelle Script because of the way it caught my eye when I first saw it. I love script typefaces but this one stood out to me because of it's thick and distressed body.
