Whisenhunt--Bookman

Hi, I'm Michael Whisenhunt and I'm a ComDes major.

The font I use most often is Bookman Oldstyle.
I had learned to set type in high school and this font reminds me of that.

Any other questions? Just ask! I'm not shy!

Whisenhunt--Bookman

HI, I'm Michael Whisenhunt...
The font I tend to use most often is Bookman (oldstyle).
I learned to set type in highschool and this font reminds me of that for some reason...

I'm a ComDes major. Other Questions? Just ask, I'm not shy!

I was checking out this website i spend way to much time at called ffffound.com and came across this. I thought it was a great how they gave the letter a body structure and made it seem alive.

Jarrad Taylor-Futura

My name is jarrad and I study sculpture. I have been going to TX state for 3 years now. I live in Austin and i work at Anthropolgie and HEB.

The Reason i picked Futura is because i like the way it looks and I'm tired of Helvetica.

Fausnacht - Century Gothic

Name's Anastasia. I chose Century Gothic because besides letters like 'l', most fit into the same dimensions and I like the consistency.

Melton-Dirty Ego

My name is Amber Melton. I'm from San Antonio and currently live in Kyle. I just moved in a couple weeks ago and my internet still isnt working properly hence me posting this morning. I like hang out outdoors with my 2 dogs when I'm not working, which I do a lot because I have two jobs.
I love dirty ego as a display/graphic font because its kinda grungy but readable and makes sense. I usually use helvetica and my body font to put more emphasis on the message. no-nonse

Snider - Frutiger

My name is Zac Snider. I grew up in an extremely small town called George West but finished high school in Victoria. This will be my fourth year at txst doubling in photo and com design. Ive always enjoyed art... having to make it under guidelines and expectations seemed more significant to me so I joined the program.

My favorite typeface is Frutiger. A typeface that I feel is clean and legible like most sans-serif with a carefree twist to it in a sense.

Daniel Burns, Century Gothic

Hello, This is Daniel Burns. I am in my senior of school in the Photography Program. I began in the Com-Des Program and decided to take a photography class figuring I could add the skill to my design toolbox. But I soon developed a passion for Photography and came into my own as an artist like I had never experienced. Though I intend to peruse a career in design I switched my major to Photography to develop myself as an artist in that medium. Time will tell if this was the best career move but I am very happy, and confident that part of me will not die. I may go back and finish the design degree if I feel it is necessary.

I Listed Century Gothic as my favorite font, i am very attracted to its simplicity and incredible sense of shape. Sans Serif FTW!!!

Albiter, Matisse ITC

My name is Mayra... I was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and brought to Austin when I was only 4. I have lived in Austin since and I love this city.
This is my third year at TX State...
I am double majoring in com des and photo; I developed an interest for photography and advertisements in high school, and I always thought that it would be really nice to be able to incorporate my photography into ad layouts.
At the moment Matisse ITC is my favorite typeface because I like the shallow curves and pointy ends that make the letterforms; I think this font has some similarities with my designing habits and my doodling too.

Hogan-Arial

Hey,

My name is Kylee. I am currently a junior so this will be my third year at Texas State. I'm not really from any particular state. My father spent 21 years in the Air Force so I grew up a militay brat. (I'm not really a brat thats just the terminology that is used.) The biggest advantage to my father's career is that I have been very fortunate to see a lot of the world and live in a large range of diverse cultures. My family is currently located in Kentucky so I'm registered as an out-of-state student, I dont go home very often but when I do the drives a killer let me tell ya.

I realized in researching my favorite typeface that I don't really have a particular favorite. I do, however, find myself gravitating towards Arial a lot. I tend to lean towards simplistic lines and neatness through my design, which I believe embodies Arial.

Chase Talley- Helvetica

My name is Chase Talley and I am a junior majoring in Communication Design and minoring in Business. I was born in San Marcos and raised in Austin but its good to be back. I’ve always felt a connection to the art world and I am glad I am pursuing a major that has to do with something I actually like doing.

My favorite font at this moment in time is Helvetica. It is so simple yet so effective in many different areas of work. I am very fond of san serif fonts so it is a natural fit.

Steven Wilson - Futura

I'm Steven Wilson and I'm from La Vernia, TX. I am a junior here at Texas State and love being here in San Marcos. I am also a com des major and media studies minor. I have been working at a sign shop for over a year now, mostly doing installs and whatever physical labor is needed.

I don't know much about type but my favorite font would probably be Futura. I like it because it is a clean and simply font yet still has it's own style.

Austin Beavers-Impact

Hey you guys, My name is Austin Beavers I am a junior here at Texas State majoring in Communication Design and Majoring/Minoring in Photography. I grew up spending my weekdays in Coppell, Tx (dallas area) and my weekends in Little Hope, Texas (no where TX). I moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State and have been loving it here ever since. San Marcos to me is the perfect mix of what i grew up around, big city meets tiny city. I work at Cool Mint Cafe here in San Marcos, doing mostly dishes and prep work. Graphic Design was something I got into when I was in High School, I really enjoyed being able to use both your own artwork and using the computer as a medium to create a finished product.

My favorite font would have to be Impact. I have noticed when i design things and it comes down to picking fonts i tend to choose Bolder, thicker, fonts. I think i enjoy how it gives words meaning and emphasis through its boldness.

Simchick - Accidental Presidency

My name's Courtney and I'm a junior ComDes major. I was born in Pennsylvania where my family moved around a lot then when I was 9 we moved to Austin which I now consider my home. I've known since my freshman year in high school that graphic design was the road I wanted to go down and have really enjoyed the art classes I have taken so far here at Texas State.

Accidental Presidency is a font I found one day on the internet and I really enjoy it. I like the thickness of the letters and how they're each shaped like rounded squares. I don't use it much anymore but I still like looking at it.
