Type: Sample Art

I was talking to Jeremy Honea this morning about the font Tungsten, a smart little font designed by Hoefler & Frere-Jones (which today we learned is called a type foundry!). It reminded me of an equally smart, and sweet, article I found about the thought process behind designing sample art for new type faces. The sample art by H&FJ is really neat, so I encourage the class to explore their website and see what real and current type looks like. It puts DaFont to shame, shame, shame!

Except for the intro, the article is written by the designer himself.
