Montemayor Proj3 Roughs

[1st Version]

[2nd Version]

After this particular day, i completely changed my mind about getting into the river at sewell park. I had heard of the river before and decided to enjoy it for the first time this past summer. Long story short i had a short panic attack when i reached a deeper part of the river and was forced to backstroke (thats all i know as far as swimming goes).

I was going for a bit of a distressed look and i felt that i could achieve this using Garamond as my font. I tweaked a couple of things in the second version and added a couple of elements i thought looked interesting but i'm not sure if the cleaner version works just as well. When putting my idea together, i knew i wanted some perspective and hope that came across in my comps.

  2. Veronica,

I really love the story of the outdoors. This subject is very unique compared to others. I clearly see a rollercoaster of emotions that include excitement as well as terror. I have to say that I do like your second version better. I think the layout is more appealing to the eye since ANXIETY is further away from the center. The only suggestion that I could make would be to rearrange your events. It was a bit confusing to know what was going on since the events during the day where placed so randomly. I think it would be cool if you lined them up somehow according to time. I can see the CLIMB UP latter on the left as the starting point. That could lead into the “river, paddling” section at the top and then ANXIETY could fall like a dam that you would ride on the river. Then you could make the BACK FLOAT the ending point on the right bottom corner. While doing all of this, you could tag your feelings onto each event. I feel like this would give your piece more flow and movement. It’s almost like a twisted timeline of the events during the day along with what you are feeling : ) I LOVE YOUR SUBJECT! I LOVE THE OUTDOORS!!

  3. Veronica,

This is an interesting day on the river. I love the way you made the paddles with the circles representing the water. And the word splash is very creative. The simpler version is what I am more intrigued with. There are a lot of elements on this page though. Maybe if it could be simplified some. I would like it to read more from left top corner to right bottom corner, or from the middle top of the page to the bottom. I also think it would be nice to see the anxiety in the shape of a boat with the paddles on either side maybe one bigger than the other. The words panic attack could be even more exaggerated, maybe more lines around it. I can see how you are trying to get the image to have perspective, maybe with the read from left to right or top to bottom it will help with that. The reeds with the leaves aren’t necessary, but I do like how you made that imagery. The ladder is a little confusing because it looks like it is leading back to the anxiety…Maybe if it were the last thing to see (bottom right corner) then maybe it would like it were leading out of the scary anxious river.
I do like what you have done. All I think that you need to do is place all these items in a better perspective.
    Great Job!

  4. I forgot to add that the font Garamond works well with your design.
