Avila Proj 3 Roughs

The story behind this one is one in which I commute every single day of my last past 2 years coming to school every morning. he he no fun.... So i thought about making the world smaller than it is and my car (Honda) driving down the road of words that i go throughout the day. The feeling I'm trying to convey is the world is pretty peacefully and blah while driving can be a pain in the woowho..The typeface i used was Garamond primarily because it had some of the glyphs i needed to built the shell of the car. Adios!

  1. Took to long to understand what was going on.

  2. Well, we meet again. I’m still partial to the grenade. I love the detail. Consider using individual letters (the same way that you did with the asterisks in the handle) to add some shading to the body of the grenade. More dimension and more detail will only make it that much more interesting. Beautiful job. Choice of type face is suiting.

As far as the story about commuting goes, again, it took me too long to understand what was going on. I saw the tree and I understood. Then saw the road, but when I looked at the road the first word I saw was ‘tree’. Since I saw ‘tree’ in a shape that was below the only obvious figure in the composition the tree my initial reaction was, ‘oh, roots!’ , but I couldn’t understand why roots wert connected to the tree. You see what I mean when I say…’it took me too long to understand’.
On the car you could add more detail by using chucks of smaller letterforms as on your grenade. Possibly adding more of a curve to the road, matching the curve of the horizon would help your road read as …well…a road. I do like your over all composition, though.
