The idea that both of my roughs convey is a sort of frustration when reality, responsibility, stress, etc. disrupts ones daily schedule. The balloons represent the positive thoughs/events that occur in daily life.
Please give me some good feedback!!! I'm not really happy with either one of them yet...
I appreciate the metaphorical approach to your compositions. I get a sense of ambition that keeps getting brought down by the tedious “realities” in life. The first composition (my favorite of the two) is very simple and coherent. The viewer gets it instantly—so kudos on that. What makes the first rough very interesting in the “shadowing” you created on the balloon. It’s very effective visually. With that being said, I think your gun should contrast the balloon very similar. I suggest that you add some minor detail to the gun to compliment and bring all the elements together. I like the use of font because it’s simple and it is used well. Also—this is just nit picking—but the bullet coming out of reality is skewed a little too high. The second composition is neat as well. Again, the approach is appreciated in the sense that it definitely portrays someone who is very goal oriented and level-headed but has problems along the way. My suggestion for this rough is to be a little more “free/loose” with the type. Especially when it comes to the balloons. It looks a little tight in some places. The type used here is ok but it’s missing the visual elements that the previous balloon has. Overall, I think the first is the strongest. Other than that, good job!
