Cole-Factory Defaults

When you're using the Macs in the art building, it doesn't take long to realize that fellow classmates sometimes alter settings in ways that are counter-productive to your workflow. An easy way to ensure that you are entering InDesign with a clean slate is to start up the program with all of the settings set back to their factory defaults. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to hold down Shift+Control+Option+Command as you click on the ID icon on the Dock.





You'll get a prompt that looks something like this












Select "Yes". All of the preferences will be reset, and you won't have to worry about any quirky changes anyone might have made. Additionally, the shortcut for the "Preferences" Menu is an important one to know: Command+K
