Melton-Rockwell

My research portion of my project is on my dead computer and its new battery will be coming in by UPS ground at 3:15 approx. I'm UPS tracking it. So I will gladly repost around that time.

As far as my concept is concerned I was thinking about two. I either want to do egyptian style type thing involving crypts and pyramids because slab serif fonts came from an era when western culture became obsessed with Egyptian style things. This obsession started with furniture and fashion and finally made it all the way into their type faces. The slab serif was meant to look similar to the heirogliphics they found in tombs and other structures.

The other concept I was looking at was the early 1900 "newsie' looking theme. Using newpaper layout type design on the pages. This concept is relevent because slab serif fonts and rockwell in particular were used as a headline font. The bold, heavy fonts were meant to capture the attention of the passerby. This of course was a very big deal in its time because newspapers were still the publics main source of news.
