Moody proj3 roughs, 11am

The image on the left is just an example of an average day for me. Everything kind of works in a pattern and builds up to my classes and then winds down afterwards.

The image on the right is of my trip to Italy, i chose a wine glass spilling over to show how fantastic everything went and then at the peak of the vacation i got REALLY sick which ended up killing the mood for the rest of the time there untill i came crashing back to reality when i had to fly back to the US.

  1. For the “average day” rough, I like the concept. I can relate to the morning pattern of getting ready and climbing the hills of doom. I think that that part of the rough is a fairly strong image. It may need to be a bit more dynamic to really pull in a viewer… maybe add some more bold words or add more of a variety to the thickness and thinness of the words. As for the winding down portion of the rough, I think that it could be a bit smoother if you are trying to convey the idea of actually winding down. I feel that if I were trying to wind down, I would want things to be less dramatic and on one note.

I really enjoy the image of the wine glass in your rough about Italy. The combination of the bold lines and thin lines creates some nice dimension. I like the idea of all the great things spilling over… It gives the impression that you had a glass of wine and goodness full to the brim. I think that you should try to expand upon the idea of getting sick though, maybe add some more elements. Also in the bottom of the spilled wine, maybe add a couple of bolder elements to keep up the dimension that’s been created in the glass. As far as concepts and imagery goes, I think that the wine glass is a much stronger image.

  2. Of your two roughs, I feel the second (wine glass) is definitely a stronger concept. The average day rough is slightly confusing, and I feel it doesn’t work well as a whole, although it has some strong points. The “hill of doom” part is good and I think any Texas State student could relate to it, but the part you say is “winding down” just seems too crowded and filled with information to really give me the impression of a day that is relaxing and coming to an end.

The wine glass rough has an excellent concept. It’s easier to follow and definitely gives a good sense of your experiences and feelings in Italy. The wine glass tipping over and your good times “spilling” into illness is great. I agree that the splash at the bottom could perhaps have more variation in weight to give it a little more emphasis. Also, if you could mess with the word “Italia” at the base of the wine glass to make it all the way around to give a more realistic feel.
