Rhodes Proj 3 Roughs

I wanted to create a how-to guide for my day, sort of a very regimented and systematic way of living. I enjoy making lists and being organized, label makers are my life, I enjoy making grocery lists, my notes are bulleted, numbered, indented......you get the idea. I wanted my composition to reflect that. Although it's not completely finished, you get the idea. I had another idea I was working on for an image based solution for a watch but it was not working well, so this it!

  1. Your concept and idea come across very clear. I do think that the asterisk at the top and the bracket seem a little out of place right now. They kind of give a sense of clutter and of being unorganized. I’m sure it just looks like this right now since this doesn’t have all the instructions added, but I would recommend having all of the numbers on the right side and left side for the steps be lined up, thus making everything appear more even and organized. I really like the way the title section (an extensive step-by-step…) looks, however you may want to have everything be lined up. This could make everything look a little more organized and in place.

  2. You say that you like lists, and I can definitely see that in this, but at the same time it seems a bit jammed together and unorganized. This might have something to do with the asterisks up in the corner, which I don’t understand as part of the composition. It seems as if you chose them just to fill up the white space, and they don’t quite go. It would look better if you fit the title over that top white space, and would add to the organized look – at least in my opinion. Also, I don’t understand the bracket in the background. It doesn’t immediately make sense why it’s there and the ‘*Taking A Shower’ looks misplaced as well, though after a moment I did come to understand what you meant with them.

I think you’re going to fill in the rest of the steps through 5 – 9 which will help even out the design. But, another option is to remove the asterisks and move 5 -9 up and thereby have the bottom of steps 4 and 9 meet and form a nice even line, like on a sheet of paper.

Overall it’s a good piece and has promise, but I’d just watch what you add into the background and what you use to fill up white space.
