Parker Proj 3 Roughs

I decided to create symbols instead of using words to show my daily schedule.  This is from a typical day in my life about 4 years ago when all I did was ride my bike, go to work, play golf and eat.  Image 2 I have the icons in a circle to represent cycling or a bicycle wheel and hopefully this shows my story better.  I used Futura as it worked best for making the shapes.  I prefer the 1st layout myself, but I'm not sure if it actually tells a story or just looks like a bunch of random icons on a page.  Hopefully each symbol makes sense.  I would love any feedback you can give me (even if you aren't assigned to critique mine).

  1. nice simple solution! both are great. If you go with the second, consider putting in some clock hands. It would add a nice dimension to the project.

  2. First off, cool concept. I love the idea of just telling a story with pictures and symbols. You wanted to know if people would get the symbols so let’s see. I will tell you what I see in order. First is sleeping, very obvious. Next, you are awake but still sleepy. Then you eat breakfast, then coffee, and now you are fully awake and ready to go. Then you ride your bike to the next symbol. My first guess would be an expensive camera, so I’m going to say photo class? Then next symbol is obviously a computer so you’re either studying, checking stuff on the comp, or in Com Des class. Then obviously lunch. I’m not sure what the next symbol is; my first guess is a showerhead? If it’s a shower, I think there could be a better symbol for it. This one makes me wonder. Then dirt jumps, dinner, chilling on the couch with TV and beer. I’m personally a cyclist and did not get the wheel reference in the second on. I do think it says repetition, which isn’t a bad thing. I do like the top one better. I think you could throw in one more symbol to even out the bottom row. That is just a personal choice though. Overall great idea, I like simple solutions.
